1st Generation Toyota Tundra Differential Oil Limited Slip
How do I tell if I have a limited slip differential.
1st generation toyota tundra differential oil limited slip. First Gen Tundra 2000-2006. I would like to know from the fellow Tundra owners of the importance of the Limited Slip Differential rear end. Jump to Latest Follow.
What is the correct gear oil for the rear differential with Limited-Slip on my 08 Tacoma TRD Sport 4WD. Im confused by all the options. The Tundra that I am looking at is an 04 DC 2WD and the owner does not think it has limited slip.
The service manual recommends 90W gear oil for -18 degrees C and up. TRD LSD FOR YOUR 96-2004 TACOMA V6 4WD OR V6 PRE RUNNER WITH OUT ELECTRIC LOCKER TUNDRA AND T100 ALL WITH 8INCH RING GEAR. My Toyota dealer also say they use SAE 80W-90gear oil with LSD additive.
He says they get asked so OFTEN about options for the Toyota Tundra they came up with this standard reply. I dont have a limited slip differential on my 2wd SR5 Tundra and I didnt have a problem getting to work in the major snow storms we had in 20002001. For the standard differential it say Synthetic oil SAE 75w-140 but does not say anything about Sythetic for the LSD.
Hello I am a new member but a long time follower and have a question. Above 0F SAE 90 Below 0F SAE 80W or 80W-90. Recently converted back in 2004 to Toyota from a lifetime with GM I have found both my 02 Camry and 06 Tundra to be very easy to maintain.
The Amsoil oil Im considering says its good for LSD differentials. The official Toyota owners manual says to use 80w-90 hypoid gear oil for the front diff and transfer case and synthetic hypoid gear oil for LSD differentials 80w-90 GL-5 Ive read people using Amsoil Royal Purple Lucas Mobil 1 etc. Burgman May 17 2010.
